A Catholic high school teacher has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.
The age of consent in New Jersey is 16, but Grupico’s position of authority over the student is what got her into trouble with law enforcement. She is in custody of the South Amboy police.

Grupico taught history at Cardinal McCarrick High School in South Amboy, NJ until it closed (due to financial problems) at the end of the school year. According to NJ.com, “the investigation began after school officials notified police.
He said the investigation determined Grupico had relations with the male student on a number of occasions at the school between May 4 and May 30, 2015.”
